Caution!

Excessive Screen Time Is Silently Damaging Your Child’s Development.

The #1 Thing Ruining Your Child’s Development (And Most Parents Don’t Realize It)

Dear parents,

Raising a child can be overwhelming.

But that's not an excuse to turn screens into the default “babysitter” — even if life is busy, we’re exhausted, and we don’t always know what else to do.

While screens can buy a few minutes of quiet, they’re also creating a silent crisis in early childhood development.

Here are a couple facts you might not be aware:

1) The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time before age 2, yet most toddlers exceed this every day.

2) MRI scans from a major NIH study revealed underdeveloped brain pathways in young children who used screens for more than one hour per day — especially in areas tied to language and critical thinking.

3) Harvard researchers discovered that 90% of a child’s brain develops before age 6, meaning what happens during these early years shapes their learning, behavior, and emotional health for the rest of their lives.

Research-backed studies exposes that excessive early screen exposure can lead to developmental issues that become impossible to ignore, such as:

  • Delayed Speech

  • Weaker attention spans

  • Poor motor skills

  • Tantrums and overstimulation

  • Difficulty playing independently

  • Struggles with social / emotional regulation

You don’t need to feel guilty — you just need a better option.

The good news is that supporting your child’s development doesn’t require hours of research, expensive toys, or adding more to your already overwhelming schedule.

All it takes is a simple, structured, screen-free routine you can do together in just 15 minutes a day.

And that’s exactly what Tembo was created for.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before get started

1. Is there any screen time involved?

No. There’s no screen involved for the child. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time before the age of 2. Children that are exposed to too much screen time are failing developmental tests. Ex: they are finding children grasping for a ball with one finger, as if it's on a screen, rather than with all 5 fingers because they are unable to discern between 2D and 3D objects. If your child is going to be exposed to screen time, ensure the subtitles are on. Children that use subtitles, learn to read two years earlier than children without subtitles. Two years might not sound like a lot, but for a 0 to 6 year-old child that is nearly half of your entire life's brain development!

2. What kind of activities does Tembo provide?

Tembo delivers fun, play-based activities the child looks forward to. This increases parent engagement between parent and child, reinforcing the parent as the child’s first and most important teacher.

3. What age group is Tembo for?

Tembo is designed for children ages 0 to 6. 90% of the brain is formed before age 6, so if we’re going to educate the child, we must focus on where we have the greatest impact. What you do from age 0-6 impacts the child for the rest of their lives. It’s the most critically important time of human life.

4. Are the activities evidence-based?

Yes. All activities derived from research by Harvard’s Center for the Developing Child, Pearson, PBS, and LEGO.

5. What areas of development does the activities cover?

Tembo covers all 4 core domains of early childhood learning:

Cognitive

Motor

Language

Social/Emotional

6. How much time does the activity take?

All activities take less than 15-mins per day, making them easy to fit into your daily routine.

7. How often are the activities sent?

Tembo sends activities 5 days a week—just one short activity per day.

8. Can I choose when I receive the activities?

Yes. You can select the time and day you’d like to receive the activities—morning, afternoon, or evening. You can change this anytime in your account settings.

9. How do I receive the activities?

You can choose to receive activities via:

- WhatsApp

- Facebook Messenger

- SMS Text Messages

10. What if I have more than one child?

For multiple children, we recommend signing up each child with a different phone number (e.g., another parent, grandparent, or caregiver's phone) rather than using the same phone for multiple children.

11. Do I need to download anything?

There is nothing to download. No apps and no screen-time. This increases parent engagement between parent and child, reinforcing the parent as the child’s first and most important teacher.

12. Is there any research behind using text messages for learning?

Yes. Early research Stanford University performed showed that text messages increased parent engagement at home which resulted in almost an entire standard deviation increase in learning gains of the children in school. This is the equivalent of going from a grade of a 76% on an exam to a 100%.

13. Are there any costs?

You can get started anytime for absolutely free by request your first activity below. In case you'd like to keep receiving daily activities, we have a different plans available, starting at only $19.99 per month.
